VIAJE AL OLVIDO / TRIP TO OBLIVION
Following an ancestral tradition, each year, by the arrival of summer, a family of small cattle farmers from the Patagonia in Argentina, need to take their animals to the highlands of the Andes looking for water and fresh pasture; Together with the marvelous beauty of the landscape, the scenes bring up the roughness of this work. Insights, conversations and dialogues with the Ancalao family and others from the same region, show the reality these people are living; their stories of the past, the challenges of the present and the expectations about their future, together with questions and doubts that arise in this episodes. The feeling of solitude appears, of abandonment and impotence while being a witness of how the system is swallowing their possibilities of survival. A documentary about life, oblivion, courage and love for the land. People who resist to vanish without leaving a testimony of a culture on its way to extinction. In 2010 we start this project with Eduvino Ancalo and Ulises Labaronnie, since then I keep in contact with the Ancalao family and I have being filming and documenting trough this last 10 years, the story keep evolving, some things have change some others not. It have being a privilege for me to be able to follow the story and to still have the need to continue filming as a way to keep alive their way of life and as a testimony for further generations. This is an On-going process, and we are looking for ways to find financial help to continue the project and to release and produce more episodes.
We really appreciate your help.
